Charles Chong :: Blog :: The Identity Crisis

September 14, 2007

I find this commentary journal article very interesting, because I myself have been involved in IS in diverse desciplines. I started in the electronics of computers, then applying computer networks in medical settings. I later study educational technology, and I think this diversity was good for my development.

As someone who is about to embark on a scholarly journey, I think this article is very timely, it will enable me to develope my own research question.

  1. I have been working in IS for many years and at various capacities too. I just think that IS does not really need organizational identity. IS has come a long way and has a well established identity. All IS needs is to be consistent and maintain universal naming convention at all levels and in all aspects so that its identity will not continue to be blurred by other industries.
