This research community sprouted from the work done on the claremont conversation (this site). We have already taken the initial steps to provide our campus with a virtual space for students and faculty to collaborate. However, we acknowledge that a number of limitations exist within current online social networking sites (OSNs). Currently, OSNs rely primarily on a user’s network of friends or random content searching for discovering new peer-to-peer (P2P) connections. In this research community we collaborate to discover new ways technology (and particularly, datamining) can be used to discover potential new connections across an OSN.
