HOMEWORK

1. Complete your phpBB3 installation and cusomization. A total of 150 points will be given for work on this project as follows: 20 points (10 each) for two CCO entries, 45 points (15 each for each week of entries and discussions regarding"Wikinomic" chapters 6-8), and 85 points for phpBB3 customization. The 85 points will be allocated as follows: 10 points for each of six MOD installations (5 you found, and 1 that you installed after learning about it from a fellow student) for a total of 60 points, 15 points for installing the Karma MOD, and 10 points for installing a style not already included with phpBB3.
2. Create a forum for discussion of interesting ideas in Chapter 8 of "Wikinomics" and add one interesting discussion topic by Monday midnight. Each discussion will address the main parts of the chapter: Rise of the Global Plant Floor (Arthur), The Modular Motorcylce Gang (Bill), The Lego Block Airplane (James), The Fabless Car Company (Sahar), and Harnessing the Global Plant Floor (Yernur).
3. Contribute to each of your fellow students' discussions by Wednesday midnight. Authors will get bonus points for responding to discussion comments, and commenters will get bonus points for continuing the discussion!
4. Register to join my SemanticScuttle instance. Your username should be your first name in lower case letters. Add 5 bookmarks including meaningful names and tags. 
5. Register for Waula. I've sent you an invitation. Join the "IS346 Fall 2009" group. I've added an interesting document, song, and photo to your "My Files" area. Comment on each. Write a CCO entry about what you think is the potential value of using Waula as compared to other social technologies such as Facebook, Google docs, or a customized site like your own WordPress instance.
6. Work on your final project.

INTRUCTIONS

We will be talking about and using the KEEP SLS e-portfolio system: http://keep.curtiscomp.com/static/index.html.

1. Register yourself in KEEP: You are only required to fill in name and email address, and a capcha feature. Remember the email you use because the login info will be sent there, and you will also need it to invite others into the group you will create later.

2. Create two snapshots, one for the IS346 projects you did: Wordpress, Mediwiki, and phpBB (include screenshots and link to the actual project URL, description of the project - you can copy from your previous CCO posts if you prefer), and one for your individual project (again, URL, references, and description).

3. Make your portfolio public, and then search your classmates' portfolios, and leave some comments for them.

4. Connect to your Wordpress.com or Blogspot.com (Blogger) blog and make a blog post about one of your portfolios within KEEP.

5. Create a group and invite some classmates to join your group, and then share with your group and collaborate on your portfolio for individual projects, for example, provide some idea or questions on the group portfolio.
