The article that I chose that influenced me the most was an article on Multiple Intelligence. This is a theory propsed by Howard Gardner. The theory states that IQ measurement does not tell an educator anything or mean anything academically to the child. The theory of multiple intelligence states that there is more than one tyoe of intelligence. When first introduced, Dr. Gardner told about seven different tyopes of intelligence. This has now been expanded to nine. The intelligences tell an educator how students learn. This theory has not been received well by many educators because it differs greatly from most other forms of teaching. It means that there may be tenty different lessons going on in the room at one time. It might mean a little chaos. In my research I would like to extend the theory to discover what implications, if any, the new way of teaching would have on children with learning disabilities and children who struggle in school.
