I am a second generation Californian who now lives about 10 miles from where I grew up! I'm happily married and have three grown children, my youngest is still living at home and commuting to classes at Cal Poly Pomona.
I work at the Jet Propulsion Lab in La Canada/Pasadena in atmospheric sciences (AIRS project) mostly doing scientific programming and some analysis. Recently, I've had the good fortune to work on a high-level initiative to incorporate GIS and Virtual Globe technologies into the requirements phase of mission design. I've also become involved in a task using AIRS water vapor estimates to generate path delay maps which are used to provide an atmospheric correction to geodetic images for estimation of tectonic deformation. Very cool stuff!
My educational background is in Information Systems from University of Redlands, I'm working toward my Master's at Claremont. I've found that although I started out at JPL in a IST capacity, I'm moving more toward a science emphasis, so I will likely pursue a PhD in a science field, hopefully at USC. I find that I'm just not meant to be a Wiki Systems Administrator, web technologies alone are not that interesting to me. I like to use the web to enable access to scientific information and to analyze scientific data.
