Well, I just wanted to post that I really enjoyed our guest speaker this week. I especially appreciated the end of her talk, where she spoke about her personal experience as a daughter of missionaries working in various countries in Asia. The idea of being an outsider in so many different communities was resounding, and it was echoed so nicely by other students in class.

The issue of how US policy affects people was really brought home when my classmate spoke about her personal experience in Cambodia. I could not get the idea of $12 (US) being the "compensation" for a human life, lost due to bombing, out of my head. I wonder who did the math to create that dollar amount.
