The course will explore what "texts" and "images" are from various disciplinary perspectives (text as image, image as text, text as document, novel, cultural norm, musical score, etc.) and what "practice" is in relation to such notions of text (how do we move from texts or images to practices; how do practices give rise to texts or images?). Faculty from CGU Arts and Humanities will lecture on this topic from their disciplinary perspectives, and participants in this class will try to find common ground as well as understand differences of emphasis in these various interpretative modes of inquiry.
